At Chez Emily, our personalised slabs are made using Belgian couverture chocolate and finished by hand at our workshop in Coolquay, Co. Dublin.
You choose the message. We make the slab. It's as simple as that — and the result is something that looks and tastes far better than anything off a supermarket shelf.

When to give a personalised chocolate gift
The short answer is: almost any occasion where you want to give something more considered than a card. But some moments work particularly well.
- Father's Day — a personalised slab with a message from the kids lands better than a generic gift and costs far less than a dinner out. Order ahead — personalised items need a few days' notice.
- Leaving Cert and Junior Cert — a Good Luck slab before exams, or a Congratulations slab after results, is something a student will remember. It's personal in a way that flowers or a card isn't.
- Graduations — a personalised chocolate gift alongside a card or envelope is a nice way to mark a specific achievement with someone's name on it.
- Birthdays — especially milestone ones. A slab with someone's name and age on it doesn't take much to arrange but has more personality than a birthday card plus generic chocolate.

What to write on a personalised chocolate gift
This is where people sometimes get stuck. The message doesn't need to be long or clever — simple and specific is almost always better.
A few approaches that work:
- The person's name, full stop. Sometimes that's enough. "Emily" on a beautiful handmade chocolate slab is a gift in itself.
- Name plus occasion. "Happy 40th, Sarah" or "Well done Tom" is clean, clear, and personal.
- A short message. "So proud of you" or "Best Dad" adds warmth without overcomplicating it.

How far ahead do I need to order?
Personalised items are made to order, so we do need a little notice — typically 3–5 working days is plenty for most occasions. For busy periods like Christmas, Father's Day, and Mother's Day, ordering a week ahead is wise.
We ship across Ireland, so if you're not local to Ashbourne or Coolquay, allow a day or two for delivery on top of production time.
